Marita Fernández Barragán (*) is a Latin American visual contemporary painter born in the city of Tandil in Argentina. From a very early age her love for arts led her to study, to train herself and -as already an adult- to teach plastic arts to younger people. During her whole career, her artwork of almost 1000 paintings participated in nearly 100 art salons, 40 individual and 25 collective exhibitions, receiving about 40 awards/mentions, and participating in more than 30 international art events in Argentina, Cuba, London in the UK, Venice and Naples in Italy, Munich in Germany, and Madrid in Spain, as well.
Marita’s artwork is divided into several series or stages in chronological order: Cubism, Caty (life of a prostitute), The Poet, Saint Latin America I, Saint Latin America II, The Black Work -also known as Saint Latin America III-, Labyrinths and Pathways.
Marita always has had very special love and devotion for Latin America, her homeland. For such reason, she has paid a warm tribute to it by fully dedicating three out of her nine paintings series, through which she aims to show the regional indigenous peoples along with their sufferings, passions and efforts to survive into a new and different world.
Marita’s work has remained commercially in secrecy for the last 40 years since she never has been willing to sell it. She always has worked to show her inner feelings by creating art to herself and to her circle of artists and friends. Hundreds of admirers, friends, curators, artists, journalists, galleries owners, and even her own family asked Marita to market her artwork, but she never agreed. Happily -for the art world- it was so until past 2019 when she successfully exhibited in London-UK. After then, in 2020 in Naples & Venice Italy, during 2021 in Munich, Germany and in Madrid, Spain .She also followed the technology updates by doing digital exhibitions during 2022 in Miami and Madrid.

Marita Fernández Barragán es una artista visual latinoamericana nacida en la ciudad de Tandil en Argentina. Desde muy pequeñita su amor por las artes la llevó a estudiar, perfeccionarse y -finalmente ya de adulta- a enseñar las artes plásticas a los más jóvenes. Durante su carrera, su obra pictórica de casi 1000 pinturas participó en cerca de 100 salones, 40 muestras individuales, 25 muestras colectivas, recibiendo cerca de 40 premios y menciones y participando en mas de 30 eventos internacionales en Argentina, Cuba, Londres en el Reino Unido, Venecia y Nápoles en Italia, Munich en Alemania y en Madrid, España.
La obra de Marita se divide en varias series o etapas (en orden cronológico) Cubismo, Cati (vida de una prostituta), El Poeta, Santa América Latina I, Santa América Latina II, La Obra Negra (también conocida como Santa América Latina III), Laberintos y Sendas.
Marita siempre tuvo un amor muy especial por su tierra natal: Latino América, y en virtud de ello, le ha rendido un cálido homenaje al dedicarle tres de las series de sus pinturas, buscando mostrar los pueblos originarios junto a sus esfuerzos, pasiones y sufrimientos para sobrevivir en un mundo nuevo y diferente.
La obra de Marita ha permanecido en un secreto comercial durante los últimos 40 años ya que jamás tuvo intención -ni vocación- de comercializarla. Siempre pintó para expresar sus sentimientos más íntimos, creando arte para ella y para su círculo de artistas y amigos. Cientos de admiradores, amigos, curadores, artistas, periodistas, propietarios de galerías e inclusive su propia familia le pidieron que hiciese pública su obra, pero nunca accedió. Felizmente, para el mundo del arte, así fue hasta el pasado 2019 cuando exhibió con éxito en Londres, Inglaterra . Durante 2020 al inicio de la pandemia lo hizo en Nápoles y Venecia y -recientemente en 2021- en Munich, Alemania y Madrid, España . Ella se ha mantenido actualizada tecnológicamente haciendo exhibiciones digitales durante 2022 en Madrid y Miami.
